In mid 1987 Rolls Royce introduced the 20,000 series, with a major design update from the previous models. To distinguish these updated cars, the serial numbers jumped from 15,000 to 20,000 with this particular example being number 20,283! These 1987.5 until 1989 models are referred to simply as the desirable 20,000 series as a result. The model designation did not change - the models remained named the Silver Spirit and Silver Spur but the refinements and improvements included a redesign of dash with more modern instruments which improved the interior look quite considerably with the old rectangular trip computer box being replaced with better looking round gauges. The cars had an improved Bosch fuel injection system and a more robust cooling system and there were a number of design improvements to the brake system. There was also a new Japanese air conditioning system that replaced the old GM based system.
Always a non-smoking southern California car since new, it was sold to its first and only owner, a southern California lawyer on 4/4/1987 and will be sold with all its original manuals. The car shows true pride of ownership which is absolutely extraordinary considering the car boasts over 250K original miles! As most Rolls Royce and Bentley enthusiasts will tell you though, this is actually how you want to buy them as used cars for everyday driving, with well maintained miles, not undriven and unused cars with everything from hydraulic systems to rubber suspension pieces, from shock absorbers to gaskets and seals all deteriorated and perished without use. This car was always regularly serviced on schedule since new only at Rolls Royce dealerships and specialists and in recent years it has been serviced at the renown independent Rolls Royce specialists, 'Frank McLain & Sons' of Encino, California, where it recently received another comprehensive full service. We would wager anyone to tell this car from the same car with 200K miles less, it is that remarkable and exceptional both cosmetically and mechanically and a true testament to its long and obviously cherished ownership. Its next lucky owner will most certainly own a car that is indistinguishable from a similar model with less than a quarter of its miles, yet they will be owning it for less than anyone would ever imagine possible!
The beautiful and original 'Acrylic White' factory color with original factory painted tan pin stripes and with a matching White Everflex roof color combination is quite rare and very striking with matching color combination Rolls Royce hubcaps and with a full tan Connolly leather interior with contrasting tan piping and matching carpets and trunk, all of which is in virtually flawless condition throughout. Quite astonishing considering the cars miles! The paint is in very fine condition and all the chrome work including the front grille and bumpers is absolutely outstanding. The leather seats, dashboard and headliner show virtually no signs of any wear whatsoever. Obviously always garaged with no accidents or damage history whatsoever and owned by obviously one very careful and meticulous owner/driver since new - never ever abused!
The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Rolls Royce should and must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the transmission is very smooth with Rolls Royce's legendary almost imperceptible shift and the engine temperature always remains cool. Turn-key ready, this particular model drives almost exactly as when it must have when it left the showroom floor over twenty-three years ago, you could not possible tell the difference! All the options are working as they should including the A/C.
