The 944 was built by Porsche from 1982-91 and was a very successful model for the German automaker. The car was one of the prestigious 'Car & Driver's' 'Ten Best List' cars from 1983-1985 as was the Turbo when introduced in 1986 and in 1984 'Car & Driver' named the car the 'Best Handling Production Car In America'. In mid-1985, the 944 underwent significant changes which included a newly designed dashboard and door panels, an embedded radio antenna, an upgraded alternator (from 90 amp to 115 amp), an increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, a larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche HiFi sound system. 1985 model year cars incorporating these changes are sometimes referred to as 1985B, 85.5 or 1985 models and have serial numbers from 45001 and are referred to late model 944's.
This particular late model example is serial # 474885 and was obviously always garaged and has no history of any accidents or damage with a clean CARFAX report confirming this history.
The original factory 'Zermatt Silver Metallic' factory paint is in exceptional condition and all the options are working as they should. The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Porsche should and must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the 5 speed transmission is very smooth shifting and the temperature always remains cool. The car has four virtually new tires.
You will surely look long and hard to find a finer and extremely rare factory loaded and unique example of this exceptionally clean and increasingly collectible and desirable Porsche 944 5 speed manual Coupe with all original paint and only 26K original miles available anywhere else.
