Purchased by it's original southern California owner on 2/7/1986 at 'Auto Steigler', the Mercedes-Benz dealership of Encino, CA and originally serviced at that dealership whilst under warranty and then later serviced at the renown 'Autobahn Performance' of Agoura Hills, CA. Purchased by second and most recent California owner from the original owner in the late 1990's and serviced by it's second owner first at 'Mercedes-Benz of Monterey, CA and then at 'Pacific Motor Service' of Monterey, CA. In most recent years the second owner serviced the car at 'German Autohaus' of Newhall, CA with all service records available. We ourselves recently acquired the car from the second owner and had the car fully serviced for turn-key ready driving today at our local independent Mercedes-Benz specialists 'Pacific Motors' of Santa Monica, CA.
Our recent full service at 110,346 miles included all fluids, filters and gaskets replaced as required; a new hood pad with heatshield installed, new engine mounts, tune up, new transmission mount & transmission service & replacement of rear brake hoses. Previous recent service history at 'German Autohaus' included the following important service work; at 100,245 miles new front brake pads & rotors, wheel bearings, replaced 2 ball joints & 2 control arms, guide rods & bushings; at 104,023 miles new A/C condensor, new heater valve; at 75,000 miles full major service including valve adjustment, pump timing, idle speed, vacuum, etc.
The Mercedes-Benz W126 is a now legendary series of flagship vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz until 1991 and was a successor to the earlier W116 series and was offered in a straight six, V8 and the now renown turbo diesel models. The 1981-85 Long Wheel base 300SD, 300TD Wagon and the Short Wheel Base 300D models all boasted the OM617.951 3.0L 5 Cylinder Turbo Diesel engine which is now considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever produced and one of the key reasons for Mercedes popularity around the world today as the ultimate long distance and durable touring car with many models still being used around the globe as taxi cabs boasting many hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. It is an economical and relatively quick with the turbocharger fitted car and a legendary trouble-free engine. The Mercedes W126 300SD was a US & Canada only import and offered a unique combination of luxury, exclusivity, economy and reliability that could not possibly be matched by any other brand making it the vehicle of choice by countless diplomats, executives and other such entities who recognized the attraction of the worlds first production turbo diesel sedan. These luxurious cars, and especially these rare wagons, still command a strong demand internationally, especially low mileage and well maintained and unabused examples such as this particular example.
This particular model was obviously an always garaged California car by its two CA owners and has no rust and no signs of any accidents and it boasts a clean CARFAX report confirming both it's mileage and service history and California ownership with no accidents. The car has it's beautiful and highly striking original 'Midnight Blue' color paint and the original 'Palomino' interior is in remarkable condition throughout with no signs of any significant wear whatsoever. The original leather dashboard is in superb shape with no cracks as are the original 'Palomino' MB Tex seats and carpet and headliner. The car drives as when new, just like a well maintained and dealer or independent specialists only serviced Mercedes-Benz Turbo Diesel with only 110K original miles should (considered extremely low mileage and very rare for these notoriously hard driven vehicles and virtually just broken in for this legendary engine) and this is a car that must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated! The engine is extremely strong with no noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool.
