West Coast Classics are proud to present a beautiful example of this very rare and internationally desirable 1981 model example of an original southern California 1981 Delorean DMC 12 with its original matching #'s engine which has obviously always been garaged with no history of any accidents or damage in great daily driving condition!
The car boasts 4 wheel independent suspensions, Gullwing doors, factory air conditioning, power assisted 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows, power locks & mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, tinted glass, AM/FM stereo cassette, electric rear defroster, cast alloy wheels, digital clock and the optional 5 speed manual transmission!
The car was originally sold to a southern California owner and has been mechanically restored as required over the years by its most recent long time California owner using only genuine Delorean Motor Company DMC OEM parts with service records and original selling dealer manuals etc available. The car has been well maintained and rebuilt/restored as necessary over the years and remarkably there are no splits in the car's leather seats which remain still supple, all the gauges and switches are working and the carpeting is not worn.
The Delorean's utilize a fiberglass underbody to which the stainless steel panels are bolted and are powered by a Peugeot/Renault/Volvo cast aluminum 174c.i. V6 engine mated to either a 3 speed automatic or 5 speed manual transmission. Absolutely none of the cars were painted at the factory. The light weight structure is glass reinforced plastic with totally rust proof stainless steel skins which will last forever. Over the years many cars have traveled past the 200K miles mark, a testament to the cars durability. Some have been sadly left to waste away or have been abused but then there are the few, like this particular example, that have been lovingly garaged and well maintained for future generations to collect and enjoy.
This is a rare opportunity to own a 1981 Delorean DMC 12 still boasting most of its original specifications intact including its original matching #'s engine with a 5 speed manual transmission and Gray leather interior! To buy, restore and get running such a car today would require the assistance of a very understanding banker, at best, and to find one like this particular southern California unrestored very original and stock example in such fine running and cosmetic shape is truly a remarkable find indeed!
