'America's only true sports car' was 25 years old in 1978 and Chevrolet observed the milestone by fitting a special commemorative emblem to all Corvette that year. But only one special option code B2Z with factory codes 13/07 paint would be amongst the collectible models this year and this was the '25th Anniversary Editiom' with its distinct and exclusive special edition cast aluminum alloy wheels, dual sport mirrors and factory two-tone silver paint treatment with an upper body of silver metallic and charcoal silver on its lower body and with pin striping accentuating the front upper profiles, wheel openings, front fender vents, hood and rear license cavity. These 1978 'Anniversary Editions' models and its cousin the 'Pace Car Replica' boasted an almost 40% premium to the price of a regular 1978 Corvette and were bid up to as much as 60% over the already inflated price by some collectors eager to get their hands on one and are therefore highly coveted and highly prized amongst collectors today.
This particular example's paint is in exceptional condition and the interior and the trim is also beautiful and all stock with its original factory radio! The car has power windows, power brakes, power door locks & air conditioning. The AM/FM 8 Track Cassette radio with power antenna was completely and professionally rebuilt.
The 2019 engine and trans rebuild is exceptional with over 310HP but remains California smog legal!
The car's engine was rebuilt in February 2019 and bored out 4.030 for a 383 c.i. V8 with KB pistons. The stroke is 3.750", Scat 9000. The Cam is GM 24502476 212/224 @ .050 112 center .435/460 lift. Competition cams, timing set, lifters, studs & guide plates. Intake valve 2.020" Exhaust valve 1.600". Dyno tested 335 lbs torque, 310 Horsepower on 91 Octane fuel.
GM Turbo 350 automatic trans also rebuilt in 2019. Rear differential rebuilt with new bearings & seals, new U joints in drive shaft & short shafts. All rubber bushings have been replaced with high energy polyurethane parts. Front & rear sway bar. Bilstein shocks front & rear. Rebuilt brake calipers front & rear. All new weather seals around windows, doors & T-Tops.
Complete new dual exhausts with dual catalytic convertors. The complete 4 wheel alignment was complimented with 4 new tires are 255x60 X15 Cooper Cobras with less than 500 miles.
The car was obviously always garaged and shows no rust or any history of any accidents and all the options are working as they should including all gauges and lights and the AC.
