West Coast Classics are proud to present a beautiful example of this all original and stock unrestored original southern California 1972 Ford Ranchero GT Pick Up with the highly desirable factory option upgraded 400c.i. V8 engine, the optional heavy duty C6 automatic transmission for greater torque (and a transmission widely used in Ford trucks and cars with the larger engines and also very popular in the sport of drag racing due to its reputation of being nearly indestructible), 3:00:1 conventional differential axle, air conditioning equipment, power brakes, fairly new tires, original 'Philco' AM radio, completely original Blue vinyl bench seats interior and matching color carpet and kick panel carpet and dashboard and boasting seemingly all original 'Light Blue' color factory paint! This truck was purchased by its original southern California owners on 2/8/1972 at 'Geweke Ford' of Lodi, CA and still boasts its original owners manuals, factory original build sheet & Protecto-plate and only 33K original miles!
The Ranchero was launched from Dearborn, Michigan in 1957 as the industry's first ever car/pick-up, two years before Chevrolet's belated response of the 'El Camino'! Undeniably handsome and perfect for the small businessman in the service industry, the model evolved in the late sixties into a full force muscle machine! In 1969 the Ranchero GT was offered with the 351 Cleveland engine or the ultimate 428! The Ranchero was up-sized again in 1970, longer, wider and lower than before in it's ultimate incarnation that lasted for only two years before the gas crisis ended the muscle car era in Detroit. In 1972, a radical change occurred in the Torino and Ranchero lines. The sleek, pointy look of the previous year's model was replaced with a larger, heavier design. Most prominent was a wide semioval grille reminiscent of a jet intake and a new body-on-frame design. Three models were still available; the now-standard 500, the new Squire with woodgrain along the flanks or the sporty GT. Engine choices remained basically the same beginning with the 250 cubic-inch six-cylinder and a selection of V8s that ranged from the standard 302 to Cleveland and Windsor series 351s, plus the new-for-1972 400.
This particular model came with factory A/C and the highly desirable 400 V8 engine! There are no signs or any history of any major accidents or damage apart from a couple of very minor parking lot dents as can be seen in the photos and absolutely no rust whatsoever. The truck has been owned since new by one southern Calfornia owner until 2017 where it was always garaged in the owner's steel building and it shows! The truck boasts all of its original paint and interior and obviously has been always lovingly maintained and kept by it's original southern California owner's since new.
This rare truck must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated - the 400 V8 engine was recently overhauled after its many years in storage and is extremely strong with the transmission shifting smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remaining cool. The old dried out gaskets have been replaced and a few updates have been installed including:
HEI Distributor
4 Barrel Holly Carb
Edelbrock Manifold
Custom Dual Exhaust
4 New BF Goodrich T/A Radial Tires
New Shocks all round
Spray in Bedliner
New oil pump, fuel pump and oil pan
All the options now work as they should including the factory AC and AM radio. The trucks original jack & spare wheel have never been removed from their storage place behind the bench seat. The truck still boasts its original 1970's collectible California blue license plates.
This is one very rare unrestored and mostly all original example of this increasingly collectible and desirable 1972 year of the legendary Ford Ranchero and the desirable and sporty GT model with factory hood scoop to boot! An original southern California truck with no rust whatsoever in rare turn-key ready, daily appreciating, daily driving and daily head-turning condition and an all time classic American muscle truck with it's original matching # 'S' code 400 V8 engine and highly desirable factory air conditioning and with only 33,328 original miles since new!
