The 1970 final closed Barracuda ('Cuda) Coupes were marked by a much more aggressive 'ponycar' notchback styling and a much beefier new basic structure than the previous generations sport compact ponycar look. This new basic structure was shared with Dodge's Challenger and although more numerous than the short lived 1970-71 convertibles are still very rare and desirable & highly sought after classic all American muscle cars today! A minor facelift occurred in 1971 with performance declining each year and with Big Blocks cancelled altogether after 1971.
The Barracuda entered its third and final generation for 1970 when the distance between the front wheels was upped to comfortably swallow any power plant from a slant six to a Hemi! The fastback coupe bodystyle that originated the Barracuda name was axed with the new 2 Door Hardtop and Convertible 'Cuda now in its place.
These classic MOPAR Detroit muscle cars achieved a rare combination of classic lines, outstanding performance, and better than average quality control. Unfortunately styling along with performance deteriorated after 1970 and although the cars continued through the '70's they were never to achieve the cult status and collectible desirability of the 1968-70 generation, especially after the success of the legendary '68 Charger in the Steve McQueen 'Bullitt' movie.
This particular car has been professionally repainted in '2002 Viper Blue' color using PPG Basecoat/Clearcoat materials. The rebuilt 440 engine and its associated components are in excellent condition. The engine compartment, firewall and inner fenders and underside of the high performance hood appear all original with no signs of any accidents. The chassis and undercarriage still appear to have the original undercoating and are in exceptional condition with no rust. The panel fit and gaps are all excellent. The chrome bumpers are also in excellent condition. The front and rear suspension is also exceptional, as is the exhaust system. The wheels and tires are as new.
The interior has custom front bucket seats fbut please note that the cars original seats are available and in very good condition and will be included in the sale (see photos below). The headliner, dash, gauges, door panels, carpet and rear package tray are all newly restored or upgraded. The original side and rear glass is in very fine condition.
The 1970 440 c.i. V8 engine casting # 2536430 was reportedly rebuilt, blueprinted and balanced as was the 727 Torque-flight automatic transmission. Obviously always garage kept with the original floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas completely solid and rust-free. There are no signs that the car has had any accidents of any kind and the car looks extremely impressive with its striking custom 'Viper Blue' color paint!
This particular car literally drives as good as it looks - must be driven to be truly appreciated - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool!

This very rare and highly desirable and collectible unabused example of one of the outstanding Mopar designs of the sixties, a true milestone muscle car now with the legendary 440/375HP engine and most certainly one sure-fire investment that's bound to only appreciate over the years for any discerning classic American sixties muscle car collector or simply any muscle car enthusiast!
