West Coast Classics are proud to present a great daily driving example of this original southern California rust free and very rare early 1965 production Ford Mustang 2+2 'A' code 289/225HP 4BBL V8 Fastback built in San Jose, California on February 15th, 1965 and which was delivered new to Los Angeles, California! The car had a new crate 347 stroker engine with 330HP and 380 lbs torque installed in 2/2010, the engine was dyno tested with dyno sheets with an automatic transmission with an S/S shift kit and HD parts and HD torque convertor.
Ford's biggest success of the sixties and the originator of the 'Pony car' concept was essentially a sporty compact car but with a now legendary long hood and short deck proportions, built on Falcon and Fairlane chassis and drive-train components, the Ford Mustang was introduced in April 1964 as '65 models and within a year became the fastest selling car of all time; with the early production cars now carrying special favor and becoming fondly known as 64 1/2 models by Mustang enthusiasts! The upgraded V8 from the Falcon six cylinder engine was the 260 c.i. V8 produced on the same assembly line with other 1964 Fords, these early models were titled as 1965 models although they were actually from the 1964 production era. After September 1964 the 260 V8 was dropped in favor of the larger 289 V8 like this particular car which actually boasted the high performance 'A' code 289/225HP 4 barrel V8!
This car's engine is extremely strong and responsive with the transmission shifting smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. The car is very striking with a still absolutely presentable older repaint in 'Dark Gray Metallic' from it's original 'Vintage Burgundy Metallic' factory color paint and the mostly all original Black color 'Crinkle Vinyl' standard interior is still in pretty fabulous condition throughout!
You will look long and hard to find a finer looking example of this highly sought after original southern California 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback with a 347 High Output V8 engine! A very striking example of this first generation Mustang and a true 'all time all American Classic' if there ever was one!
