West Coast Classics are proud to present a very well presented and great daily driving example of this very rare and striking original southern California 1962 Studebaker Regal Lark 2 Door Hardtop 289 4 BBL 'Power Pack' 225HP V8 with a 3 spd automatic transmission with its original California 'Black License' plates and which recently underwent a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration over the last three years including a fully rebuilt engine, transmission service, all new brakes, dual exhaust & 4 new Whitewall tires. The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are solid and rust-free.
The car looks extremely impressive with a very striking repaint with the interior also having been restored only as required over the years to original factory specifications throughout & still boasting its original 'Studebaker' AM radio! The dashboard, the headliner, the carpets and all the seats have been restored and are in exceptional condition throughout!
The car has a correct and factory optional top-of-the-line 289 4BBL 'Power Pack' 225HP V8 engine which is strong and powerful and this particular car drives very well - must be driven to be fully appreciated!
Reportedly the vehicle spent it's life in southern California and it underwent a restoration by it's previous owners over the last 3 years. In addition to the cosmetic restoration, many mechanical and electrical components were replaced at the time of the restoration as documented by the file of receipts totaling several thousands of dollars not including labor.
Studebaker's long wheel base luxury sedan was reborn in 1961 as the Lark. Offered as a Regal with a standard 259 V8 along with a 4 barrel option & with a pair of 289's from the Hawk. The sportiest models in the compact line was the 2 Door Hardtop, introduced in 1962 along with a major re-skinning by the renown stylist Brooks Stevens. Studebakers declining fortunes and sales volume made these very rare models and with the combination of strong performance and styling they are both desirable and economical collector cars today.
