In 1958 a modestly refaced continuation of the 1958 Continental Mark III emerged with the Continental officially becoming a Lincoln again for the first time since 1948. A big 430/350HP V8 and a milestone car with all instruments sitting ahead of the driver who faced an upright looking dash with luxurious upholstery and fully powered options including a power retractable top and rear window offering the latest in subtle elegance! Billed as the 'World's Most Admired Car' and advertised as classic beauty, craftsmanship and sheer elegance combined.
By 1960 these Lincoln's were definitely the largest, heaviest and most luxurious vehicles of any on the road. Up front all Lincoln's carried dual headlamps, canted at 45 degree angles from the massive front bumper with the top-of-the-line Continental Mark V using an even finer looking grille. The body sides were long flab sides with a horizontal crease running body length over a unitized body and frame. Standard power was the 430 CID engine and all this year's Lincoln's boasted a newly designed rear suspension system.
This particular southern California example was obviously always garaged and well maintained. The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents. The car boasts a very professional repaint in it's original 'Polaris White' color paint and a very nicely restored 'Black' leather interior with all its original factory instrumentation intact including the original 'Town & Country' radio. The original type power Black soft top which includes Continental stars embossed on the unique C pillars has been recently serviced with new hydraulic rams and a new motor and functions perfectly and all the chrome is also in absolutely exceptional condition. The car also has 4 new Whitewall tires and it's all original trunk kit.
The 430 c.i. V8 engine is extremely strong and powerful and sounds absolutely magnificent and this particular car drives absolutely magnificently - must be driven to be believed - does not miss a beat and purrs like a kitten - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day car a run for it's money! The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the car is an absolute pleasure to drive!
Rare with these particularly sophisticated cars, all the options work including all the power options and the fully retractable top and rear window! The car has its original spare wheel and jack in the truck and an owners manual.
This is an extraordinarily rare opportunity to own a great daily driving example of a very well preserved 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible in a very striking color combination! A true all American classic car for the Lincoln enthusiast or any classic car enthusiast to enjoy today!
