"The car is 100% as you described it in EBay. Let me thank you for your honesty and sincerity." Wilfried, Germany. (8/15/09)

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and beautiful example of this 1957 Mercedes 190SL roadster with a recently completely rebuilt engine - rebuilt including short block, plain connect and crank, fuel pump, connecting rod, 4 pistons, carburetor, voltage regulator, re-bored block A, machined crankshaft, repaired heater core, replaced heater cables (Cost $8,117), remove & rebuilt steering gear and remove differential and disassemble and remove all gears and bearings and rebuild rear end (Cost $2,968), parts  including 4 pistons, 4 bushing rods, 2 bearing rod sets, gasket set, engine timing chain, 4 valves, 4 intake guides, 4 exhaust valve guides, water pump (Cost $1,280), remove and replace king pins and replace all brake springs and steering knuckle (Cost $954), rebuilt manual transmission and clutch and complete ground-up restoration by the owners, the renown 'New Life Upholstery' auto restorers and upholsterer's of Los Angeles California with silver paint with completely restored leather interior in dark leather, matching silver hardtop with light gray headliner with matching light gray carpet and kick panel, completely new seals (doors, windows, trunk etc.,) and all new chrome including front and rear bumpers, front grille, 2 small front grilles, fender guards, inner handles and lights, tail lights, rear view mirror and all door handles (with photos of the restoration and invoices for all parts provided upon completion of sale)!

The car was originally from Michigan and purchased in 1/2001 and shipped to Los Angeles in 2003. The car was restored in Los Angeles in 2003 until the present day where any the rusty parts, including the floorboards and passenger rocker areas were removed and replaced with absolutely no expense spared - over $50K spent over five years in restoration work with receipts and photos available! This car must be seen and driven to be appreciated - the rebuilt engine (by the renown Mercedes specialists, 'Malibu Motor Service' of Santa Monica, California) is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. The car has been professionally repainted in a 'Silver clearcoat' color. The restored leather interior is absolutely gorgeous.

The 190SL was the first high volume Daimler-Benz sports car and one of the firm's best known U.S. models in the 50's. Styling was deliberately chosen for close identification with the exotic 300SL and featured a similar low grille, long hood, wheel opening eyebrows and generally rounded contours. Not really intended for competition use and too heavy for it's engine anyway, it was considered a pleasantly designed tourer with a top speed capability of slightly more than 105mph. many left the factory with a removable steel roof in addition to the normal folding fabric roof. Easier to maintain and cheaper to own than a 300SL both then and now, but built with all the solid integrity for which Mercedes had long been famous. Overlooked for many years due to it's stolid performance, the 190SL is still reasonably priced as a milestone Mercedes and will surely prove a very worthwhile investment for the Mercedes enthusiast or any classic sports car collector.
