West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this original southern California 1985 Buick Regal Grand National 3.8L V6 Turbo coupe finished in its seemingly all original beautiful Black color paint and two tone Black and Gray cloth interior with factory sunroof, cruise control and air conditioning!
The Regal Grand National wasn't selling in big numbers (only 2,102 built in 1985) but it was destined from the start to become a collectible classic car as it was attracting enthusiasts into Buick showrooms with its dramatic 'Darth Vader' looks and turbo powered engine available only in striking monotone black exterior treatment and color paint and identified by special model badges! Under the hood was the turbo-charged 3.8L V6 with sequential fuel injection rated at 200 bhp. The Grand National package retailed for $675 and included the turbo-charged engine, quick ratio power steering, an instrumentation group, sports mirrors with left-hand remote control, a four-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning and P215/65R15 black sidewall tires! A two-tone cloth interior with front bucket seats carried code 583 soft trim. The car also boasted a specific Gran Touring suspension with individual factory options added on this particular example including an Astroroof ( Code CF5); electronic cruise control (Code K34); electronic instruments (Code U52) and electronic trunk release (Code A90)! Only 2,102 Grand Nationals were built in 1985 making this the lowest and rarest of the non GNX year models!
Turbo Buick's became the top muscle car of the 1980's as demonstrated by the renown and legendary 1987 Grand National GNX of which only 547 were built. A bigger turbo-charger and inter-cooler along with other enhancements gave this hot rod some 276 bhp and "Car & Driver's" test showed 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds, which amongst factory 1987 cars meant that only Porsche' 911 Turbo could match the GNX's acceleration!
This particular example is a rare and all original unabused example of an original southern California non-smoking owner's car and will be sold with a host of Grand National extras including its original owners manuals, shop manuals, a new bra and factory monitors! The car was always garaged and has no signs or indication of any accidents or damage.
The original factory 'Black' color paint is in exceptional condition throughout as is the original two-tone interior and all the options are working as they should including the A/C. The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Buick Grand National should and must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the automatic transmission is very smooth shifting and the temperature always remains cool. The car has four virtually new tires.
You will surely look long and hard to find a finer and extremely rare unabused example of this exceptionally clean and increasingly collectible and desirable Buick Grand National available anywhere else!
