ORIGINAL 73K MILES!!

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this original southern California owner and completely rust free coveted original California 'black license plate' 1968 Oldsmobile 442 2 door hardtop coupe with it's original matching # 400ci/325HP 4 barrel 'rocket' engine with only 73K original miles!

Finished in it's original factory 'Meadow Green' color paint with it's original factory 'Parchment' color vinyl seats, completely original interior and with it's original wheels, rims and hubcaps to be sold with the car and photographed here in it's trunk. Purchased by original and only southern California owner from 'Plaza Motors Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac' of Palm Springs, California on 7/25/1968 with the original owner's manual and the 'Oldsmobile Owner Protection Plan' booklet with the car's original protecto-plate and always garaged and covered in the original family's home in Palm Springs since new!

The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents - obviously a garaged and cherished southern California driver only. The car looks extremely impressive with it's original 'Meadow Green' color paint and the original 'Parchment' interior is in exceptional and virtually completely original condition throughout, apart from some after market gauges added by the original owner's son (see photos below)! The complete interior including the dashboard itself, the matching 'Parchment' headliner, the carpets and all the seats and door panels are in absolutely exceptional condition with virtually no signs of wear and tear! All the chromework is also in exceptional condition and the original spare wheel with it's jack is in the trunk.

The original matching # 400cid 4 barrel engine with still correct factory colors is extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives absolutely magnificently - must be driven to be believed - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money!

The Oldsmobile 442 was born out of the competition between the Pontiac Division and Oldsmobile. It began as a response to the Pontiac Tempest GTO which had proved such an unexpected success in 1964. The package was dubbed the 4-4-2 based on it's combination of four barrel carburetor, four speed transmission and dual exhausts. The package also included a stiffened frame, boxed rear suspension control arms, a heavy duty clutch and four speed manual transmission, a heavy duty driveshaft, oversized brakes and heavy duty suspension package with heavy duty wheels, higher rate coil springs front and rear, heavy duty shock absorbers, a large front anti-roll bar and an additional rear anti-roll bar. The 442 became a separate model from 1968-71. It would rival any other muscle car of it's day and has a large and enthusiastic club following.

This particular car has working air conditioning, power steering and it's original 'Olds' radio. Recent mechanical work at 'Kennard's Automotive' of Palm Springs, California include a new fuel pump, remove and replace charging valves on A/C, recharge and evacuate A/C system with R12, remove and replace with new A/C hoses and lines. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, there are no noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool!

Owned for over forty years by only one southern California owner  - never raced or abused - babied all the way! Although obviously not a concourse example, this remains a very rare and highly desirable and collectible unabused and very original example of one of the outstanding muscle cars of the sixties, which has high repute amongst collectors for both it's beautiful lines and smooth fast performance for a luxury coupe. In summary, this is one great daily driver with only 73K original miles on it's original engine, in turn-key ready to enjoy condition, a southern California car and virtually completely original 'black license plate' car which was always garaged and is completely rust free, a very rare example of this increasingly collectible marque, especially since it's demise on 4/29/2004.

A sure-fire investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any classic American sixties muscle car collector or simply the perfect candidate for any Buick enthusiast to restore!
